D3b. Enhanced Mobile Accessibility Guide
Project Director: Jon A. Sanford, M. Arch
Co-Investigator: John Peifer, MS, Co-Director, Mobile Wireless RERC
Schedule: Yr 5 (12 months)
Specific Aims:
The Mobile Wireless RERC is currently undertaking a development effort to design, implement, and evaluate a Mobile Accessibility Guide
(MAG) which will help people who use wheeled mobility devices find accessible routes and resources as they travel in communities.
However, the current system will be built on existing knowledge of accessible routes, that is, accessible routes defined by ADA
standards. The purpose of this project is to utilize findings from R3b. Impact of Environmental Barriers on Everyday Mobility, to
enhance the quality of information available to people who use wheeled mobility devices so that they can make more informed choices
about routes to use and places to go.
