D5. Development of Valid Wheelchair Cushion Test Methods
Project Director: Stephen Sprigle, PhD, PT
Co-Investigator: Chris Maurer, MSPT, ATP, Scott Shankle, BS, Bryan Hobbs, MSEE
Timeline: Year 2 (12 months)
Specific Aims:
The predictive validity of standardized test methods is important
for understanding the relationships between results of bench tests
and actual clinical performance. This understanding is needed to help clinicians interpret data in a manner that serves their clients
needs. Based on findings from R5, valid test methods for positioning and load distribution will be developed. The specific aims for
this project include: 1) interpreting the data resulting from R5 testing; 2) developing new tests and modifications of exiting test
methods to better reflect actual performance; and 3) validating the new and refined test methods.
